This four-day event is designed to showcase and celebrate area birds with activities suitable for beginner as well as advanced birders.
The Kenai Peninsula Birding Festival provides exciting & affordable (most are free!) events like a guided Wildfire Woodpecker Walk, guided birding float trips, young artist exhibit, featured speaker Dr. David Sonneborn & more!
Dr. David Sonneborn is a true Alaskan and an avid birder. He is the only birder to have reported 400+ bird species in Alaska. His current count is 413 species. The total number of species known to occur naturally in Alaska, as of 1 January 2014, is 501 species.
