SUMMARY:Stream Watch Stewardship Event: Erosion Control!
DESCRIPTION:The first 10 feet of nearshore water is very important for fish habitat.  It is also important that extra soil isn’t eroding into the water as it effects fish health.  On October 4th\, let’s help protect fish habitat! \nWe will complete a hands-on erosion control project on the Funny River side of the Kenai River in partnership with the Kachemak Heritage Land Trust. The project is physically demanding and on un-even terrain\, in close proximity to the water (entering water is optional). \nThis project is contingent on the water level as we will secure spruce trees to the riverbank to protect the bank in the short term so that native plants can establish and protect it in the long term. \nAll training provided on site. Registration is needed so please contact StreamWatch@kenaiwatershed.org to register!

SUMMARY:Stream Watch Stewardship Event!
DESCRIPTION:Join Stream Watch in removing our seasonal plant protection fencing! \nEach year\, Stream Watch volunteers install 2+ miles of temporary fencing to protect riverside plants.  Riverside plants do an important job of securing the soil so that it does not erode into nearby waters\, smothering fish eggs and stressing adult fish.  The fences do a great job of keeping people off of the plants so that the plants can protect the river. \nEach Fall\, the fences are removed and stored.  All of the supplies and training are provided so that you can join us in this effort to remove the fencing! \nOpen to the general public.
